A Schengen visa allows a stay in the Schengen area for up to 90 days every six-month period.

For Malawi nationals and residents, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, is processing Schengen visa applications on behalf of Germany and other Schengen countries.
As the Norway Visa Application Centre (VFS Global) in Lilongwe has been temporarily closed since 24th March 2025 until further notice, applications can currently only be made at the VFS Visa Application Center in Pretoria or Cape Town after registering the application online and booking an appointment.
